Malvern College Chengdu offers our students a beautiful and safe campus environment equipped with high quality facilities including state of the art classrooms for learning, incredible indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a wonderful indoor swimming pool, lecture halls and a traditional ‘British style’ dining hall for breakfast, lunch and dinner (Day students will be provided with lunch each day).

Our campus in Chengdu is a fully bilingual campus with staff offering both languages to support our students.  A perfect environment to improve English language as well as have lots of fun!

  • Rooms are arranged along the corridors of the boarding houses with two to six beds in a room. Bathrooms are located nearby with a maximum bathroom ratio average of 1:4.  Boys and girls are accommodated separately.
  • Group leaders will not share with unknown adults but may share a room with another leader (same sex) from their group.  Staff and group leaders are accommodated nearby to students.
  • Rooms are equipped with single beds, a desk and chair as well as wardrobe space. The rooms are spacious and modern.  All bedrooms are air conditioned
  • Rooms are cleaned weekly with bathroom areas cleaned daily
  • Laundry facilities are available on campus
  • Wi-fi is available throughout the campus
  • A damage deposit of RMB300 (£30) is required upon arrival and will be returned at the end of the student’s stay if no damage has occurred

Dining

  • All meals are served in the traditional ‘British style’ wooden panelled dining room. Food is served buffet style and students have a wide variety of options to choose from.  Special diets can be catered for, please ask on booking.

With bespoke lesson materials created exclusively for Embassy Summer and accredited by the British Council, our curriculum is designed to engage students in discussion, to develop the key life skills of collaboration and intercultural communication and to provide extensive opportunities to practice and build on their English language use.

  • Our teachers are trained to deliver the Embassy Summer course curriculum
  • Maximum 17 students per class
  • 15 hours of formal language learning per week
  • Additional hours of learning in a bilingual environment across all excursions and activities
  • Several language levels available
  • All learning resources provided and included in the tuition price. Students receive a learning notebook and, at the end of their course, a certificate of attendance and completion as well as a course report

Arrival

Students are welcomed upon arrival at the main school reception area. Here they will be greeted by the Embassy Summer team and we will check them in. Residential students will be shown to their rooms from 3pm. Day students arrive on Monday morning and join our exciting programme directly.

Welcome

For residential students, on the first evening there is a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the summer camp, the campus, its facilities and useful information that will help to keep them happy and safe during their stay.

Individual students will join their ‘guardian groups’ and meet their guardian who will be on hand throughout their stay to look after their welfare and make sure they remain healthy and are having lots of fun!

Activities

With fabulous facilities MCC is a perfect place for students to take part in a wide range of onsite activities.  These may include:

  • Sports such as football, basketball, athletics, badminton, table tennis and volleyball. We also have our fun traditional sports day!
  • Explorer activities such as our fun scavenger hunts, quiz nights and murder mystery events.
  • Creative activities such as our trashion shows, lantern making, craft and drama workshops.
  • STEM activities and workshops

Half and full day trips

With a focus on the nature and history that surrounds Chengdu, our students get to explore this exciting destination further during their time with us.  Each week we offer an educational visit either to the incredible Giant Panda Breeding Centre or the amazing Chengdu Natural History Museum as well as full day trips out and about in and around Chengdu.  Students joining us in Chengdu will have the opportunity to visit the Sanxingdui Museum and / or a full day educational trip to Mount Qingcheng and Dujiangyan.

Student Welfare

We place the highest priority on care and supervision of all Embassy Summer students around the world, so you can rest assured that your young learners will be well looked after during their stay with us. We have a dedicated welfare manager and, for our individuals, dedicated guardians. Members of our team are available 24 hours a day to support students with anything and everything and to ensure that they are happy and healthy!

Medical Informaiton

While basic first aid can be provided on site, where a student may require further medical attention an Embassy Summer staff member will help to make appointments and accompany students to see a doctor or visit the hospital if needed.

All students must purchase their own travel and medical insurance.

A 24 hour emergency telephone number is available throughout the duration of the summer camp.  The phone number will be sent with your booking confirmation documents.

Cash/Spending Money

Please note that the centre will be mostly cashless, we would encourage all of our students to bring a digital form of payment with them should they wish to pay for optional trips etc while with us.
