Our Centre is located on the beautiful campus of prestigious Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, only 20 minutes to downtown historic Boston.
The campus has fantastic facilities including a modern sports hall, indoor swimming pool, a running track with a recreational field, outdoor tennis courts and additional outdoor space. There are also spacious common areas located inside the spacious residence hall. Tufts University is surrounded by beautiful New England villages and countryside’s, dramatic coastlines, popular beaches and the attraction of the downtown city of Boston, Cambridge and Davis Square are within easy reach.

Meals served in a large self-service canteen in Dewick-McPhie Dining Hall.

Breakfast

Cooked and continental which might include pancakes, eggs, juice, coffee, toast, cereal, fruit.

Lunch

Two courses, 3 options including a vegetarian option.
Packed lunches (provided at weekend): water, fruit, sandwich, crisps.

Evening Meal

Three courses, 3 options including a vegetarian and halal option.

Snacks

Vending machines located in the residence buildings for drinks and confectionery.

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival at Harleston Hall where they will register and get their room keys so that they can check in to their rooms.

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

Activities

Activities are organized after lessons and lunch in the afternoons during evenings. These activities could be onsite or near to the center. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, tennis, swimming, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Drama and performance activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops
  • Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, arts & crafts and team games

Excursions and Trips

Our students get to explore exciting places in and around Boston, such as: Harvard University, MIT University, The Sports Museum, The Freedom Trail and the Massachusetts State House. Other activities include:

  • Charles River Walk: A fantastic view of the Boston skyline from the Charles River, with a visit to the Museum of Science
  • Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market: Students go shopping at this historic marketplace including a visit to downtown crossing and Chinatown.
  • Old and New Boston: A visit to the USS Constitution Ship and the Institute of Contemporary Art.

 

Upgraded Packages or Optional Activities could include the following:

  • New York City: Known as the Big Apple, students can explore New York City’s many iconic sights including Central Park, Times Square and of course amazing shopping.
  • Boston Aquarium: Students will see many species exhibited at the aquarium.
  • Six Flags New England: Students get to hang out at this cool theme park with world-class roller coasters and over 100 rides.
  • Whale Watching: Students will set sail on the Whale Watch tour for an experience of a lifetime!
  • Newport Rhode Island: Students will hike the cliff walks and visit 2 of the amazing mansions along the way.
Each 14-night stay will include 5 half-day excursions to exciting places around Boston such as Harvard University, Quincy Market, The Sports Museum, Massachusetts State House & MIT University. It will also include 2 full-day excursions Charles River and the famous City of Salem Massachusetts.  

Student may have lessons either in the morning or in the afternoon in week 1, alternating weekly after that. 
Students will be provided with a complimentary Charlie Card which will cover all transportation and excursions for the week.

Medical information

If a student needs medical attention an Embassy staff member will help make an appointment. Group leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An Embassy staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group. All costs have to be paid by the student. Students must have written consent from their parent or guardian for any medical treatment to be administered.
