The beautiful C.W Post Campus of Long Island University is located in Brookville New York, on the north shore of Long Island. The campus is set in the idyllic neighbourhood known as the “Gold Coast”, an historic suburban community that has been the subject of popular novels and major motion pictures. The campus is an hour away from the excitement of New York City.

  • Our dorms are located on LIU Post Campus.
  • Single & Twin Standard Rooms. Laundry soap available on site for a small fee
  • Each room is furnished with a wardrobe, desk and chair
  • There are approximately 15 washers and dryers available
  • The communal facilities are cleaned daily
  • Deposit of $100 required upon arrival
  • Students are responsible for keeping their rooms clean and tidy, bathrooms are cleaned daily

Meals

Meals are served in large self-service dining hall

Breakfast

Hot breakfasts are provided 7 days a week. Continental breakfast includes fruit drink, cereals, toast, preserves, tea or coffee.

Lunch

Hot lunch provided, with side dishes available. Lunch contents vary daily.

Packed lunches

Meals on excursions are provided and vary by excursion and destination.

Evening Meal

Hot dinner provided, with side dishes available. Dinner contents vary daily.

 

In addition, on campus there are vending machines, shops and a café and recreational areas.

These are located a short walk from the residence and dining hall in a beautiful university building.

  • 20 x 45 minute lessons per week
  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
  • Maximum 17 students per class
  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities

Arrival

Upon arrival at the centre, our team will welcome you and give you a welcome pack, a lanyard, and a student ID card.

 

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

 

Activities

Activities are organised in between lessons and during evenings. These activities could be on-site or near to the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, volleyball and basketball
  • Evening activities – Sip & Paint, Karaoke & Dance Party Night, Sports Night, Ice Cream Social w/ Team Building, Night in the City.

Excursions and Trips

Inclusive Trips:

  • Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island: Enjoy a ferry ride across the river to see Lady Liberty and learn about American History on Ellis Island.
  • Times Square at Night: Experience the legendary Times Square in all its glory and take in the iconic lights, sounds and vibes!
  • Brooklyn Bridge: Visit New York’s famous bridge and walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
  • Wall Street/ Financial District: Visit the world famous Wall Street and Manhattans’ nuzzling Financial District.

 

Optional Trips:

  • Six Flags: Welcome to the thrill capital of the world! This popular theme park has the largest collection of extreme roller coasters on the planet!
  • The Edge Observatory: Edge’s unique vantage point on the Western side of
    Manhattan lets you take in the entire skyline from one place.
  • Walk the Highline: The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. Experience nature, art, and design like only New York knows how to do.

3 Week Sample Programmes

Each 14-night stay will include a total of 12 local accompanied visits to New York with visits/activities and 2 full-day excursions to major tourist attractions such as The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, The American Museum of Natural History and Coney Island.

Students will receive their own weekly subway card and we travel on the NY Metro Subway system.  We  may on a rare occasion use a coach for transportation.

Students may have lessons either in the morning or in the afternoon in week 1, alternating weekly after that.

Medical information

If a student needs medical attention an Embassy staff member will help make an appointment. Group leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An Embassy staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group. All costs have to be paid by the student. Students must have written consent from their parent or guardian for any medical treatment to be administered.

Health insurance is required in the US. If a student does not have insurance, guard.me insurance is available to purchase through Embassy Summer.
