Our centre is located on the campus of South Bank University, right in the heart of zone 1 of central London close to Elephant and Castle, Waterloo and Westminster.

The London Eye and the South bank are all within close walking distance making this an ideal location to explore the many sights, sounds and attractions that the exciting city of London has to offer.

Whilst delivering bespoke lesson materials, the Embassy lesson is designed to engage students in discussion, to develop the key life skills of collaboration and intercultural communication, and to provide extensive opportunities to practice and build on current language.

  • 17 students per class and classes suitable for students of all levels.
  • 15 hours a week
  • 20 x 45 mins in UK, US and Canada
  • 15 x 60 mins in Malta
  • All learning resources provided are age appropriate and all students receive an end of course certificate of attendance.

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival at McLaren House where they will register.

Welcome

On the first day there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

Activities

Activities are organised on days when there are no trips, these activities take place either on-site or near the centre.
These may include:

  • Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Daytime activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops

Excursions and Trips

Half-day Trips:

Our students get to explore exciting places around London 5 times a week, they visit places such as: The British Museum, The Museum of London, Tower Bridge experience, Thames River cruise and The National Gallery.

Full-day Excursions:

  • Brighton: A vibrant, popular seaside resort with beautiful architecture, home to the Sea Life Centre.
  • Canterbury: Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is one of the most visited cities in the UK with medieval buildings, notably the gothic architecture of Canterbury Cathedral.
  • Cambridge: This iconic university city is famous for its colleges, where we will visit a famous college.

Optionals:

  • Thorpe Park: Home to thrilling rides, attractions & live events, Thorpe Park Resort is the ultimate destination for
    thrill seekers featuring some of the UK’s most popular roller coasters.
  • Windsor Castle: Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years and is today one of the official residences of His Majesty The King.
  • Oxford: Home to the world’s oldest university, where we’ll visit a famous college.

Optional London evening activities: Bowling, cinema, musical, The London Eye experience and Madame Tussauds.

3 Week Sample Programmes

All Day Programmes start on a Monday and vary in length dependent on the centre. Some includes the full 7 days of the week, others 6 days (excluding Sundays) and the Malta programme for Juniors (8-13) include 5 days. Students will take part of lessons, have lunch at the centre and go on activities and excursions with the rest of the students. Below is a sample of the full summer programme.

If a student needs medical attention an Embassy staff member will help make an appointment. Group Leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An Embassy staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group.
